Why braces as an adult?

Welche Zahnspangen gibt es für Erwachsene?

In unserer Praxis verwenden wir sowohl konventionelle als auch innovative Zahnspangenlösungen für Erwachsene. In einigen Fällen kann es durchaus sinnvoll sein, für eine kurze aber effektive Korrektur für eine feste Zahnspange zu entscheiden. Hier gibt es Modell für die Zahnaußenseite und auch als dezentere Alternative für die Zahninnenseite. Viele Menschen tendieren aufgrund beruflicher oder privater Anforderungen zu herausnehmbaren Spangen, sogenannten „losen Klammern“oder durchsichtigen Zahnschienen. Wir finden gemeinsam mit Ihnen eine Lösung, die zu Ihren Wünschen passt und Ihre Zahnfehlstellungen bestmöglich korrigiert:

Fixed braces

Fixed braces are a reliable method of correcting teeth: They work 24 hours a day and generally lead to rapid results. Fixed braces can be attached to the outside of the teeth. Brackets are bonded to the teeth, through which a wire is threaded. This wire is adjusted at regular intervals and gradually moves your teeth into the desired position. Brackets are available in metal or tooth-colored ceramic with transparent arches. While these are less noticeable, they are not as durable as metal brackets.

The invisible version of fixed braces is called lingual braces. These braces are attached to the inner surfaces of the teeth. Due to the greater complexity of this procedure, lingual braces are more expensive than the traditional method with external brackets, but they are discreet and invisible from the outside.

Removable braces

In addition to traditional, removable braces with a palate plate, transparent aligners are a good option, especially for adults, for effectively yet discreetly correcting misalignments. Our orthodontic practice in Hanover is a certified Invisalign practitioner. With this method, you will receive custom-made, transparent aligners for each treatment step. The discreet aligners are worn for approximately 22 hours a day but can be removed for eating and cleaning. They are suitable for both simple and complex tooth alignment.

Retainer

Retainers are stabilizers that ensure teeth remain in the desired position after orthodontic treatment. Retainers can be worn overnight, like a loose brace, or they can be attached to the inside of the teeth as a fixed splint.

How good is the before and after effect?

Despite their comfortable and discreet nature, these virtually invisible aligners allow for good treatment results, both for simple and complex corrections. It is important that the aligners are worn regularly to achieve the desired results.

For many people, satisfaction with their braces also depends on how much time they need to plan for orthodontic treatment. Generally, straightening teeth with removable braces takes longer than with fixed braces. Treatment with fixed braces is often completed after 6-12 months. With Invisalign aligners, correction is achieved within 12-18 months. With many other removable braces, this period can be significantly longer.

Does health insurance cover braces for adults?

People over 18 usually pay for braces out of their own pocket. Even if medically necessary, health insurance companies only cover the costs in exceptional cases. There are various supplemental dental insurance plans that subsidize orthodontic treatment for adults in certain cases.
